History and Vision

Kairos Ministries International is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), Christian educational ministry to the worldwide Body of Jesus Christ. KMI was incorporated in 1996 and approved by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization in 2007. Founder Dr. David Dorries envisioned an educational arm to the Body of Christ that integrated into its message the foundational truths of Scripture enriched by the resources and insights from Christian history and theology. Today's believers have a hunger to expand their Biblical knowledge with deeper awareness of our historical roots as Christians and a sharper theological understanding of the Gospel. The vast majority of Christians have limited exposure to the historical and theological foundations of the faith due to the fact that church leaders focus primarily upon the Scriptures alone. After years of pastoral ministry, Dr. Dorries experienced a clarification of his calling leading him to return to school to earn a Ph.D. degree in preparation for a teaching ministry. Studying church history and theology at an ancient Scottish university proved to be more than just an acquisition of academic qualifications. As he became immersed in church history and theological studies, he found his understanding of the Gospel deepening and taking on a relevance beyond what he had known. Completing his degree, he plunged into a teaching ministry spanning three decades of service in graduate and undergraduate Christian universities with a passionate desire to equip his students with a love for the Gospel informed by Biblical, historical and theological understanding. Many of his students over the years experienced life-changing transformation in their faith and ministry vision.

After many years in the classroom, Dr. Dorries felt stirred to step out of the classroom and offer these teaching and resources to leaders and  laity within the worldwide Body of Christ. He accepts speaking engagements with churches and other groups. He researches, writes and publishes books and other resources highlighting Biblical/historical/theological themes. And he is in the process of producing teachings, seminars, and courses for the worldwide web. Dr. Dorries puts special emphasis upon the history of revivals. He understands strengths and weaknesses of historic revival movements and seeks to impart to leaders and laity alike insights from his studies that carry the potential for dynamic change in today's spiritual landscape.
